Join our coffee team as a Barista and serve expertly crafted hot and cold beverages, including espressos, lattes, smoothies, and mocktails. You’ll engage warmly with customers, manage POS transactions, and ensure your station is always clean and well-stocked. What you will do
Duties & responsibilities
Preparing Beverages
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, and other specialty drinks.
- Attention to details while taking orders such as preferences of coffee blends, dairy and sugar ratios
- Operate coffee machines and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Serve beverages and prepared food such as toasties, paninis and pastries
- Ability to make mocktails, smoothies and milkshakes
- Ability to follow recipes
Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service, engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Manage customer orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and resolve issues promptly.
- Upsell menu items and promote seasonal or special offers to customers.
Cash Handling and POS Operations
Process payments using a cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system.
Maintaining Cleanliness and Organization
- Ability to maintain hygiene and safety measures while operating brewing equipment
- Ensure proper stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other necessary supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all areas meet health and safety standards.
Team Collaboration
Collaborate with other team members to maintain a smooth and efficient service flow.
Stock Management
- Ensure proper stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other necessary supplies.
- Keep up to date with new coffee trends and techniques.
Adherence to Food Safety and Hygiene Standards
- Follow company policies and procedures, including those related to health, safety, and cleanliness.
- Comply with health and safety regulations
Other
Any other task from time to time.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years work experience in retail
- Minimum matric/diploma
- A recent SAPS clearance
- A valid medical certificate
